Big Spring Phase II
environmental

Big Spring is a world renowned limestone flyfishing creek in Newville, PA. Big Spring Phase II project was approximately 3,000 lf of stream restoration, habitat work and narrowing of the channel. In its history, the Big Spring had many man-made impacts that had affected the depth, temperature and width of the stream. The second phase of the Big Spring restoration project included six large log structures for habitat, narrowing the channel to increase flow and oxygenation in the creek. There were also mudsill installations that increased habitat as well. This project was important due to the native reproducing brown and brown trout and rainbow trout populations.
